Additions to Team Evergreen! / INTERSTATE BATTERIES ENDURO

As most everyone is aware, we thought we would have been moved into the Fairgrounds / Speedway several months ago.  We are making great strives on many fronts, but just can't replace the missed time. Everything is coming together well, from staffing, to cleanup, to sponsorships. As much as we would like to be further ahead, we are proud of where we are going.

A couple of major announcements for the season include Larry Conley as our new Tech Director,  Alan Porter, who worked for NASCAR in the Craftsman Truck Series, and Sprint Cup adds experience to our race day operations.  Bert Johnson, former GM at Port Angeles Speedway is our newest member of the team. Mike Buse will act as our stunt coordinator for Extreme and Guinness World Record attempt nights. All great additions!

ENDURO IS ALL GOING WELL.  We had 6 sign ups this Saturday, plus mail ins, and phone ins to bring the total to just over 20.  We certainly apologize for the website and phones and Internet.  Having just moved into the Office this past week, it has taken a few days to get everything to interface. The County phone and Internet systems are complex, but are now functioning. We should be fully operational by weeks end!
Trick 100 unleaded and 110 leaded are on site.  Tires should be here early in the week.

The next practice day is scheduled for Thursday, but the only dry day may be Friday.  Please gives us an email if Friday would work for your team.  No other days in the 10 day window look very good!

stefanie@evergreenspeedway.com for questions?  Stefanie is our Drivers Relations / NASCAR point person.

Thank you!!

Tire Updates - Hoosiers and Goodyear

Late Models / Hoosier 27.0/10.0-15 3035, 3045 / Projected pricing    $135.00 range

Street Stocks / Hoosier 26.5, 27.0/8.0-15 Rib 700 / $110.00 range

Mini Stocks / Goodyear ( same tire as last year ) $105.00 unchanged

Stingers / Hornets / Goodyear 195 / 60 x 14  treaded Short Track Special    2810 / $85.00  Firm
( after testing for durability and lifespan )

All divisions will have a burn off of your current inventory with change of manufacturer.  Hornets and Stingers using Falkens will have the same burn off time as Street Stocks and Late Models switching to Hoosiers.

SUPER FIGURE 8 - this is the alternative to recaps for the 2011 racing season. Point funds and more start money will help offset some of the increase in tire prices.

Hornet and Stingers ---this is the optional Racing Tire if ENDURO testing and tire tests prove accurate.
As with all classes, point funds will be awarded at seasons end.  If you did not run an expensive Racing Style tire in 2010, you can run the same tire this year.  Racing Tires OPTIONAL.

The first few weeks of the season will be given to each class to use your current inventory.

We look forward to a fun and exciting year at Evergreen Speedway!  Thank you to all who support our track and to all who support Race Tracks throughout our great Region.

If anyone can help stop the rain so we could do some painting, that would be awesome!  Only had 55 of the last 60 days with measureable cold rain!!!   RACE ON!

March 12th Play Day / March 27th ENDURO

The time for the Rain / Shine Play Day Practice:  Back gate open at 9:00am   Track time 10:00a-3:00p
Again, you do not have to be a NASCAR member to practice. $25.00 for all racers.

NEW:  You will be entering the pits this year through the entrance to the 5/8's turn two!!!
Take the entrance road through the RV sites to the NEW PIT entrance.

Enduro Update:  Many questions have been coming in about tires for the Enduro.  As we have stated from the beginning, we would like to see NON race tires.  This is a big equalizer for the field.  There will be teams coming out to race, others coming out to play and have fun. The chump type rules state safety, economy and no racing tires. We are looking for a full field and do not want to discourage anyone from racing. Enduro rules for your home tracks apply. Safety first. There are many tires at wrecking yards, garages, new DOT's for $55-$58 dollars if you choose, so buying $400-$500 tires is not necessary.

thank you!

Enduro and Work Update.

Thank you again to the staff and the volunteers today!  We made strides on the restrooms, souvenir stand and officials booth.  We have lights, PA, and scoring.  Things are progressing well for the time we have had to work.  The Tech and Officials team met today in preparation for the upcoming season. Everything is coming together to create a very professional staff. Several new faces join the Evergreen Speedway team for the new season.

Enduro Update.  Applications are coming in!  Thank you.  Once again, this is a run what will run race!
No high tech, no racing tires, no need to spend lots of money on a car.  Safety, safety and fun are the game.
Enduro rules from most all tracks apply. We will auction of the winner, and maybe even the top three!

SF8 New Tire feedback / Hoosier 27.0/8.0-15 -- 2070-- 8” Slick

Attention Super Figure Eight / NWOF8 drivers.  We have an option for a NEW tire.  This is a tire with an MSPR of $132.00  It gives the option of  New vs Retreads.  Cost would be $95.00.  Hoosier has found this to be a great tire for many of the SF8 tracks they supply.

There have been numberous requests for NEW tires.  This is the best option I have found.

Please give me your feedback, good, bad or otherwise, so I may move forward or backwards!

Again, we do have the option of the Nu Treads for $70.00

PA Closing / Schedule and Track practice days

As everyone has heard by now, Port Angeles Speedway has closed.  It is sad day in auto racing when we lose another track.  Bert Johnson did a great job of promoting the Speedway and running a great show.

In light of this development, Evergreen will be adding additional shows to our schedule. The awesome Vintage Modifieds will be visiting Evergreen on  April 23rd and September 17th.  We hope to add the June 11th Promoters Street Stock Tour to our schedule.  Bert and I are placing as many of the touring events and classes into Evergreen as possible. Our hope is to be able to place shows at Evergreen and surrounding tracks to accommodate as many groups and classes as possible. To all of the drivers, teams and fans who called Port Angeles your home, please let me welcome you to Evergreen Speedway.

The March 12th practice day will be a TECH INSPECTION DAY.  No track practice.  Our first track practice will be March 17th, followed by March 19th, March 24, March 26, and March 31st.

Track, Facility and Tire Updates! Work Party this Saturday!

As we are all ready for Spring to arrive, the excitement for a new season is building. Today marked the first day of move-in to the Speedway Office!  Track walls have been stripped down to the 1985 paint scheme. The Grandstands, pavement and walkways have been pressure washed to the max, all ready for that new color design. The PA, new Whelen lights, and scoring system are all functional.  A complete face lift to the Race Office looks great. The VIP Box and Officials Booth are under renovation.  New storage and containers for the pit area should be arriving shortly.  Under the Grandstands work is continuing to clean and repair the Souvenir stand, the restrooms and storage areas. While we are 5 months behind our projected move-in date, we are making the best of the time we have had, much to do with a great volunteer effort from many people  on Saturdays. Once weather conditions improve for a solid week, we will make the most of it!
Our full time staff has made great strides along with the racing community volunteers---THANK YOU!

Hoosier tires will be available for the SLM and Street Stocks at first practice.  Mini Stocks will continue with the Good Year tires for the interim. We are close to a deal with Hoosier for an 8" bias tire for the SF8 class. The new tire will be priced about $20-$25 more than the Nu Treads.  More than one tire option will be made available.  A recap tire from the South is also being explored. I know time is short. Hope to finalize within 48 hours. Hornet and Stinger 8 tires updates within the same time frame.
