Happy New Year!

We want to wish each and everyone a very Happy New Year. The promise of a brighter tomorrow, all those hard to keep resolutions ( the intent in always there! ), the chance to do over, the next big step in our lives, the opportunities are endless......The awesome thing is, we all are free to, as Southwest says " to move about the Country". All of us possess the will to create great things, make a difference in someones life, give back to those less fortunate, and simply, lend a helping hand. As we approach Opening Night 2011, we are very humbled to have the opportunities to work with many of you in the racing, business, and civic communities, as well as charity organizations and military installations. Looking forward to the future, I am reminded of a famous quote.

The first step in the acquisition of wisdom is silence, the second listening, the third memory, the fourth practice, the fifth teaching others

We hope everyone has a safe, fun and exciting time tonight!

From High Road Promotions a very HAPPY NEW YEAR!

2011 Rules and Updates / Confusion / Clarification

As everyone knows, Five months ago, High Road Promotions was awarded the operating agreement from Snohomish County to operate Evergreen Speedway year round for the next 25 years. The contract also includes a major role in year round entertainment and marketing assistance for the County.

This process along with many other delays has put us at least 90 days behind where we anticipated being with the July announcement. Our move-in to the County should occur around January 15th.

Our commitment to the racing community has been to restore and rebuild Evergreen Speedway.
That will never change. We are trying to do everything possible in relationship to communication  and  transformation into a new era of racing. In this process, we may have stated some changes that created more confusion. Please accept our apologies if this is the case. Our goal from the beginning has been to create fair, consistent, economical rules.  Rules that overlap local and regional tracks to attract the best drivers and teams for first class racing. The overall fan experience, as well as the racers satisfaction are the key objectives.

High Road Promotions has worked many hours trying to simplify the rules that are used for the different classes at Evergreen Speedway. Despite the efforts it has become obviously clear that there is much confusion and some misdirection of what our sincere intent is meant to be. Because of the confusion we are going back to work to clarify the rules and changes that will be implemented in 2011. We apologize for the confusion and we will have a more detailed set of rules within the next 7-10 days. Thank you for your understanding and patience.

Late Models

It has come to my attention there maybe a mistake in the Late Model Updates for tread width. I will get back on this issue when I return home!  Sorry if it has caused concern or problems.  No excuses, simply sorry if an error on input occured.

Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays!

On this night before Christmas I think it's important to be thankful for so much in our lives. We all get caught in the moment and sometimes become more reactive than proactive. Down economies bounce back, hard work is what we are used to, being good neighbors and charitable to everyone is the thread that binds our nation. Even when times are not what we are accustomed to, we still live in the greatest country on earth.  For this reason alone, we always have hope for a brighter tomorrow. Compared with most of the world, we take simple utilities, food, water, transportation, and education for granted. Many families will be celebrating Christmas alone while moms, dads, sons and daughters, friends and co-workers serve our great nation in the armed forces. The gift of freedom is one we receive each and every day.

As for High Road Promotions, our present came in a long term agreement to operate Evergreen Speedway. We are extremely thankful for all the opportunities we have in the operation of  the track, additional entertainment at the Fairgrounds, and to be able to give back to the communities we live in.  2011 will be a rebound year for so many things. Part of any turnaround, is to overcome any and all obstacles. Adversity is just another Opportunity.

We hope your holiday season is filled with family, friends, laughter and a sense of optimism.

On the lighter side of life, we hope Santa brings us rules packages that every driver loves!
A Merry Christmas to all, and to all a good night!

Hall of Fame Update

When we asked for Nominations to the 2010 Evergreen Speedway / Hall of Fame it is simply a nomination.

This is not meant to be a popularity contest or vote.  Many fan clubs are viewing this as such.
It is great to see the interest and passion for your favorite driver, but please keep in mind the intent of the program.  Many great names have been cast, and like all nominees, many or all are deserving of the award.

thank you!

I think the Most Popular Driver Award could be on the program in the future!

Email Feedback

Thank you for more than 40 emails with suggestions and ideas for the Late Model concerns.

The absolute positive responses with potential solutions are very much appreciated.  Drivers, Crew Chiefs, Car Owners, a couple of Fans, and Tech Officials spent considerable time in addressing every hot issue.
There is no magic answer or overnight fix, but there are passionate racers that want to help find the answers.
Just the fact that within hours of posting and soliciting your input, you answered with thought and foresight.
We know budgets are tight, and many teams can only run a few races. Those trying for a NASCAR ring might like this option.

Street Stock Rules Revision UPDATE

Rule 11.2.5: Clutch assembly. All clutch assemblies in the Street Stock Class must weigh a minimum 32 lbs. No matter what engine is used.
Upon further review of Rule 11.2.5. it appears the 604 GM Spec was allowed the two disc clutch.  This has proved to be effective and long lasting.  Many cars are currently running this same setup.  Effective today, all vehicles will be allowed to use these lighter weight clutches, eliminating the  32# minimum weight for the package.

Spec 604 SLM Class / Open Motors SLM Class

The Great Debate about the Crate.  Sounds like a Dr. Suess book.  When we started the process of rebuilding Evergreen Speedway, the topic of Late Models always continue to resurface. Low car counts, high operations cost, low payouts , tire and shock prices too high, and then everyones favorite subject...Crate vs the Open Motor. This is one of the most hotly debated subjects at any conference, forum or local watering hole.  The original idea of taking a 5K motor that could last 20-30 races with reliability and no refreshes makes complete sense. Spend a thousand more in extras, bolt it in and go racing....Cheap.  No brainer. Stop. Are you going to run apples to apples?  The dilemma starts there.  The answer is no. Unless it is an exclusive Spec 604 class. The state of where we are today.  Blending the Motors it appears, will satisfy no one. No matter if we use restrictor plates or weight, the question remains, will the car count increase?

IF we ran a 3/8's Spec 604 class for 14 races then open up  4 - 5/8's races to invite open motors would that work? 100 lap features with good pay outs.  We Need 18 races for NASCAR.  Need to decide on featured division.

I am asking for your input.  Besides fixing the economy, letting you run for free, and paying $10K to win, what would make you WANT to run at Evergreen Speedway?

We have tryed to combine, blend, and be as liberal as possible on rules to increase car counts without costing a bunch of extra money for the Late Models.  It is a work in progress.

If you would, please send me an email.   What is your best solution to fix the Late Model Car Counts?        doug@highroadgroup.com

A couple of areas we are doing for 2011.  Lowering the front gate ticket prices, eliminating the back gate weekly car fee, lowering the pit age to 14, giving teams sponsor tickets, increased marketing and advertising, comp pit passes for team sponsors, purses that pay out all the way or pay to start, starting our complete upgrade of the track and facilities to name a few. Rather odd, that we would ask for your opinions or ideas?
How will racing be better served then to explore every side of an issue? The only way to build a better team is to communicate with the players and coaches.  ( drivers and crew chiefs )

In all seriousness, please respond if you have something that will help.

Mini Stock / Street Stock / F8 / Hornets / Stingers

Attention Teams!  The Hoosier Tires are the Official Tire of the Late Model Division. Other Classes are under review. WE do listen! The Street Stocks Division may well remain on the current tires.

Attention Touring Groups!

Please send an email to doug@highroadgroup.com with any open dates you may have for the upcoming season!

Looking forward to booking more exciting shows for 2011!

DEMO DERBY and ROLL OVER

No changes to the DEMO DERBY or ROLL OVER Cars  from the 2010 Evergreen Speedway rules package.

2011 STREET STOCK Rule Changes

Once we gain control of the evergreenspeedway web site all of these changes will be incorporated into the new rules package.

STREET STOCKS

Rule11.1.4: Locked rear ends not permitted. Please note these rear-ends must turn freely by hand without the aid of tools or levers to be considered legal.

Rule 11.2.5: Clutch assembly. All clutch assemblies in the Street Stock Class must weigh a minimum 32 lbs. No matter what engine is used.

2011 LATE MODEL Rule Changes

We would like to announce our first set of rule changes for the 2011 racing season.  The complete rules packages will be posted once we secure the evergreenspeedway web site.  For now, please follow the 2010 rules, with the exceptions of these changes.  As we stated from the beginning, we are trying to keep the cost of racing in check, create more car counts, and streamline rules to overlap area tracks whenever possible.

The changes to the rules should allow more teams to compete at Evergreen Speedway without investing in new motors, shocks or expensive parts.

Big Announcements Coming Next Week!

Christmas is just a few days away, and in the spirit of the season, we have great news to share!

Rules and Schedules

Hello Everyone!

There have been many calls and emails over this past week about Evergreens rules and schedules. It is our intent to finish and post the rules in the coming week.  Many of our meetings at WARPA, the RPM Conference in Reno, and this past week in Charlotte have one universal theme in mind.  Try to get it right the first time! As everyone knows in today's world, travel is no longer fun. Working with local and regional tracks on scheduling and rules has been our mission from the start. We are close on all classes, with NO major changes for the coming year. As we have stated from our first meetings, let's get the 2011 season rolling without increasing expenses with rules and parts that exist now, and to overlap and honor area track rules if possible. The goal over the next one to three years is to work closer and communicate with neighboring tracks that benefit everyone.  Everyone is the teams, the fans, the sponsors and the tracks. Lowering costs and raising car counts is the ultimate goal.  It is in the best interest of our sport, if the quality of racing is good at every track.

There are plenty of reasons that teams are not running. The economy and the cost to run on a regular basis have to be the most obvious. We believe some of the areas concerning cost controls, front and back gate, purses, and car sponsor incentives will be addressed when we announce our new policies. Being driver friendly is as important as being fan friendly.  Actually, more so. We have not finalized the tire or fuel vendors. Every sponsor will be charged with giving back to the drivers and teams. Whether it is point funds, weekly contests, or simply rewarding consistent attendance at the track, Evergreen and its sponsor partners will make it fun to run!

Montana 200 in July

In a prior post I gave some preliminary scheduling for our K& N Pro Series West Weekend.  With the Montana 200 running  the next weekend, we made a commitment to other tracks to not schedule against their big events. We had listed a Late Model race on Sunday as a preliminary to the 200.  This race was scheduled to not conflict with the Big 5 in Wenatchee the previous night. Our plan is to run only "Spec 604's" not planning to compete in Montana . Many of our local drivers compete and win, at the popular Montana 200!  In recent meetings with owners and promoters we agreed to cooperate for the sake of the drivers, fans and the tracks. We certainly want to be respectful of all area tracks in the best interest of our sport.

Daytona is only 70 days away!

Pictures from Charlotte, NC

We have met track operators from all over the country, both asphalt and dirt.  Great people dedicated to racing, who are willing to share awesome ideas.  Here are some pictures from our trip.

NASCAR Whelen All American Series / K&N West Touring Series

Tonight was the NASCAR Whelen All America Series Awards Banquet, held in Charlotte, at the NASCAR Hall of Fame. Our Track and State Champion Lane Sundholm, along with State Rookie of the Year, Joe Kneeland, gave Evergreen Speedway great representation. This event is ever as impressive as the Sprint Cup Awards Banquet.  All of the same attention to detail, along with entertainment, stories about Short Track Racers, all of the top NASCAR brass, plus a huge commitment to drivers and teams that run for the Track, State and National Championships. While the Cup gets the majority of the national attention, there is
no mistaking the level of importance Home Tracks play in the minds of NASCAR.  It is good to see them honoring and recognizing the roots of NASCAR.  The rebuilding process to regain tracks will not be an easy road, but rarely does anything of quality and value come without hard work and dedicated efforts. Hats off to the over 2500 drivers and teams nationwide who participated in the series.

Evergreen Speedway is proud to announce the return of  the NASCAR K&N Pro Series West. The West Series has been absent for several years.  The event dates are July 9th and July 10th.  On Friday July 8th, Evergreen Speedway will host a "Block Party / Fan Fest Event".  Car shows, driver meet and greets, bands, and welcome back NASCAR West!  Saturday's racing program will feature Tour Time Trials, with Street Stocks and maybe Mini Stock Mania? on the 5/8's!  Late models will open up the Sunday event followed by the "soon to be released" title sponsor's 200 lap K&N feature event. Look for some exciting announcements to be coming your way very soon about this 3 day fun filled weekend. Who will be returning to the NW?  Mark your calendars, you will want to run this race. Purses... Big Purses!  Be our guests!

Rules / Schedules / Live from Charlotte!

Hello Drivers, Teams and Fans!

As this year is winding down and time is drawing nearer for the new racing season, we wanted to give you some very important updates.

Our eyes and ears have been wide open this past few months gathering information from your teams, scouring information from area and regional tracks, researching tech and cost analysis on parts, and having several discussions with promoters about common rules and packages. We are finalizing our rule packages based on current platforms with changes coming that should streamline, simplify and reduce operating costs. Everything we are doing is based upon hundreds of hours of research, input from the teams and first hand experience.  We appreciate everyones input, ideas and suggestions for making racing more fun and affordable. The successes we share will benefit the teams, the fans and the tracks.  Our goals are threefold. To create the best fan experience possible, to support, promote and rebuild each and every class of racing for our teams, and to deliver a great return on investment to all of our sponsors. The NEW Rules will not be revolutionary. Slowing taking what is in place today with an eye on the future of our sport will be the path we have chosen.  Given the state of the economy, the lower car counts and the costs involved to run a weekly race team, everything we attempt to do, will be with the driver in mind. Now that all of the area tracks have posted their rules, we are trying to find common ground in as many areas as possible. We know it is impossible to match up everything this year, but our goal is to accomplish as many crossover rules as possible for the future.

In the next few days we shall have our rules and schedules ready!  2011 is going to be a very exciting time at Evergreen Speedway.

Rules / Move-in / Updates

Hello Everyone!

Hope everyone had a great Thanksgiving Day and a good Black Friday. Today we wanted to give a few updates as our list of new followers continue to grow.

The WARPA Conference last weekend gave us a chance to sit down with track promoters, touring groups, fuel and tire reps and many friends. Out of the meetings came some positive feedback concerning rules, scheduling of events, and a general consensus that our sport needs to create a new level of communication and cooperation with its tracks and teams. Focusing on cost containment, developing youth programs, streamlining cross promotional rules programs, growing fan base, and generally educating the market on the value and benefits of  racing in their communities. This not only helps the tracks, it also makes it easier for drivers and teams to acquire sponsors.

The upcoming promoters conferences in Reno, plus the NASCAR banquet and networking in Charlotte will keep us busy early in the month. Out of these meetings, we will finalize our rules, schedules and marketing programs for the 2011 season.

The upcoming former employees meeting on Tuesday will give an outline of how High Road Promotions will plan, organize and implement its upcoming operations. Delays in replacing the roof, removing the water, and a complete remodel of the race office will postpone move-in until late December. Continued amendments to our contract agreement with the County have delayed events scheduling.  An expanded role, in addition to our racing program, has created more legalese and areas of responsibilities. We All look forward to the day the ink is completely dry!!

Rules: This is an area we Really appreciate all of the input, emails, phone calls and meeting attendance.
After literally hundreds of notes and suggestions, we are getting close on the rules. On that note, with so many teams and individuals volunteering to be on a rules committee, we are probably not going to publish the final rules by committee.  There has been enough controversy and hear say in the past, we do not want to alienate anyone.
Whether you made a meeting or gave us your suggestions through email, they have all count!
Our goal is to have all of the rules posted before Christmas.

Save the date:  January 22nd / Awards Banquet / Program details to follow

Happy Thanksgiving!

Happy Thanksgiving! We hope each and everyone has a wonderful day with friends and family. At this time of year, especially with the weather being so cold, please consider a few minutes of time to give of yourself. Every mission and food bank has and will continue to be stretched thin this Holiday period. Anything from the extra coats that haven't been worn in years to a few cans of soup can really make a difference. Few things in life are as rewarding and meaningful as giving back to our communities.

On behalf of High Road Promotions and the all new Evergreen Speedway, best wishes to each and everyone!

WARPA

Hello Race Fans!

Just a quick note to say what a GREAT Western Auto Racing Promoters Association conference this past Friday and Saturday at the EMBASSY SUITES in Lynnwood!

Over 20 tracks throughout the West were represented, as well as many of the traveling tours, Hoosier, Goodyear, Trick and VP fuels, K&K Insurance and many more vendors and media partners.

Two separate Promoters Only meetings brought great dialog and cooperation for future growth and cross promotions for our sport. Everyone can help the racing community, no matter if its Monroe, Yakima, Tenino, Wenatchee or Spokane, with an off season push from our fans, teams, promoters and sponsors to renew and energize racing in the Northwest. Now is the time to reach out to new sponsors, schools, clubs, civic groups, churches and local business leaders to educate them how fun, entertaining and important racing is and can be for every city.

The rebuilding process and communication is going extremely well! Hundreds of emails, phone calls and live discussions are resulting into some concrete directions for the future. This interaction with the drivers, teams and promoters will result in more positive relationships for everyone.

As a reminder Tuesday, November 16th is the next meeting. Street Stocks / Late Models

Rules Meeting Room Change!

This weeks rules meetings will be moved from under the Grandstands to the #501 4-H Building located behind the Speedway Race office.

The Grandstands are still being cleaned by the operators of the Haunted House.

Hope to see many of the teams over the next few nights! Once again, if you are unable to attend and would to make suggestions for rules or other track ideas, please send us an email to: evergreenrules@hotmail.com

Just a quick reminder, we are NOT going to make major changes to any classes. Our goal is to be as clear and concise as possible for all of the rules. Focusing on refining classes that are economical, competitive, fun and entertaining will hopefully maintain the current car counts and encourage more of the parked teams to be able to run again.

Updates: Rules / Web / Banquet

Hi Everyone.

We have been getting many calls and emails about the upcoming rules meetings, which is a good thing! A couple of items we want to make more clear. First, this is not going to be the only meeting we will be having about rules. If you would like to send an email, if you can't make it, we will present your ideas. Second, we are Not going to make wholesale changes to any class rules.
We want to concentrate on making them fair and economical without adding any new expenses. Our goal is to encourage more of the parked cars back, work with the current drivers and hopefully grow more new people to the track. The idea is to use what is in place now, and try to streamline some of the major expenses... like shocks...More on this at the meeting!

High Road Promotions will be acquiring Evergreen Speedways website from Johnson Production. This should be final in a few days. Until then, please continue to follow www.highroadpromotions.com for details. The ES site will be changed and updated in the near future.

Banquet update: We have been working with NASCAR this past three months on several topics including the 2010 Awards Banquet. We have received many inquiries about the status of NASCAR's involvement from trophies to point fund money. As of today's meeting with them, all of the drivers point fund money will be mailed out before Christmas and the awards and trophies will be shipped to High Road Promotions. With everything that is happening between now and the first of the year, we are choosing January 22nd as the tentative Kick Off / 2010 Awards Banquet.

Looking forward to a promising future!

Rebuilding Begins

Hello to Everyone. This week we are beginning a new phase for Evergreen Speedway. The transition and restructuring begins. With that comes many new and exciting plans, opportunities and goals for rebuilding Evergreen into the premiere track in the West. Now that this process is underway, we would like to make a few statements. First, thank you to Johnson Productions and ALL of the race teams for keeping racing alive this past couple of years, through the most difficult of times.

This is not only a time for remodeling, it is also a time for remolding. This is a time for helping, not for hindering. Trust like Respect, is earned. We hope to gain both through communication, hard work, fairness and dedication to creating the best racing experience possible for the drivers, fans, sponsors and the community. Change is constant. Without change there would be no progress. During this change of promoters we hope to capture the spirit and passion that drives your teams and capitalize in a positive way. Our staff training will be clearly noticed from day one. Our commitment to drivers satisfaction is as important as our front gate customer satisfaction. Changes are in place for improved food services. Many items with the County are in the works for track improvements. Until the below surface problems are repaired and drainage runoff controlled, doing any paving will be temporary fixes at best. Conditions, upgrades, cleanliness, and facility standards will be done. Everything takes time and money. Not everything will be done in the first year, but everything done will be done right.
Working together, there is so much to be gained, and nothing to lose.

The new roof trusses will be going up in the next few days as part of the remodeling at the Race Office. The flat roof repairs have been unsuccessful to date. We should be in the office before December 1st.

Transition Updates

Hello race fans! As High Road Promotions transitions to Evergreen Speedway in the coming week we wanted to give you some new updates.

First, to clear up some rumors about the current track facility. The walls, the fences, the dirt and the grandstands are in place. All rolling, and non-fixed assets are being removed by Johnson Production. These were items purchased from IPI. The trucks, the track equipment, the UKE tires, office furniture and non capital investments to the county are owned by Johnson Productions. The county will do another walk through with JP on final move out, and a walk through with HRP on move in. Everything will become final when all parties sign off. I hope that makes everything clear!

Second, and a point that many drivers, fans, sponsors and teams are concerned about. The 2010 Awards Banquet. We want to assure everyone there WILL BE A BANQUET. GUARANTEED. We will provide more details in the near future. Many sponsors, clubs, drivers and teams have offered assistance, of which we all are very appreciative.

Third, our partnership with the clubs and teams that compete at Evergreen. We can't tell you how proud we are to work with so many great people. From Bill who runs the Karting, Lupe the Street Drags Director, Russell the Director of Evergreen Drift, and Bill and Shari and the great staff at WWRA. We have been to several board meetings, banquets and one on one meetings the past few weeks, with great interest for an outstanding 2011 race season.

As soon as we move into Evergreen we will start our Saturday Night team, class, and rules meetings. We apologize for any delays in starting the rebuilding process. We have compiled over 200 suggestions for rules and operations through our evergreenrules@hotmail.com site. While we know we can't use everyone’s suggestions, we can and will use many of them! The ONLY way Evergreen Speedway will become the Premiere track in the Northwest again, will be through communication, cooperation and efforts on the part of the promoters and racers to create what we all want. Our long-term agreement gives us many opportunities, one of which is to start completely over and build a competitive, economical, fun, and fair race environment for the teams and the fans. The passion that drives each and everyone at HRP is found in each and every one of you. How we use that energy will drive the Speedway.

Power of Words

Over the past several weeks we have been communicating our thoughts, goals, progress and visions for the future. During this time we have answered questions, made statements and given our viewpoints. The latest blog was one of fact and information. At no time have we taken shots at, or disparaged anyone. We have openly thanked Danni and Denny Johnson for keeping racing alive, and for their diligence under adverse circumstances.

We have been supported by drivers and teams who ran each and every week hoping for a better tomorrow. Words are seemingly harmless, but as we all know, can cut like a knife. While we are all adults, it doesn't make one void of hurt feelings. The Power of Words are an awesome force. Most everyone in the racing community wants to see Evergreen restored to its past glory. We would like everyone to remember the past years have been difficult for many people. Running any business have had its challenges. We all know friends and family who have lost jobs, their homes, their autos, their retirement and some has lost their lives in these turbulent times. Given the perspective of life vs our sport, sometimes we lose sight of our senses.

Material items are replaceable. Sometimes words are sole destroying. Anything and everything can be rebuilt. In the end, we need to work together to create a better partnership of track and teams.

MOVE IN DELAYED

Hello everyone! As most of the Racing Community knows, the previous contract with the county ended on October 3rd. Our intent was to start our move in the following week. Johnson Productions got a one week extension from the county, but now as we understand will be staying until the end of October. The delay for High Road Promotions is one we did not expect. The loss of time has affected many items such as remodeling, sponsorships, class and employee meetings, as well as tire testing and race events.

It appears we may not have any late fall or winter races after all. The safety lights were removed with only the wires remaining on the fences. We will continue to move forward with our many plans for rebuilding Evergreen. The onsite presence just lends to quicker and easier communication for potential vendors and sponsors. In no way will this slight delay cause any adverse conditions for the start of a new race season!

We have received dozens of inquiries about the Championship Banquet. At this time, we have not received word one way or another from the Johnsons on their intent. Unless facilities were previously booked for this event, we have found only a few venues with any space available over the next three months. Please let us know if you have more information!

In the near future we will be launching a NEW WEBSITE for the Speedway. Johnson Productions has elected to keep evergreenspeedway.com. We hope this will not confuse our fans, sponsors or teams who have relied upon the site for news and updates.

OctoberFast 300 Postponed

Hello Racers and Fans! High Road Promotions officially takes over Evergreen Speedway this month. Our target move-in date will be delayed for a few more days. The transition from Johnson Production and the county will be finalized shortly.

Our intent was to schedule a 300 lap Enduro race on October 23 for Hornets, Stingers and either Mini Stock or SF8's. At this time, we will delay the race until November. We would like to have at least two track events before the first of the year. We know there has been a lot of interest in late season events. The target date is November 6th with enough interest. The purses will be substantial for all classes. As soon as the offices and facilities are vacated, we will start the remodeling process. We have started meetings with some of the groups, and will be working on scheduling class meetings this next week.

Stay tuned for progress throughout the track and the fairgrounds!

Season Ending Thoughts

Hello to everyone! First of all, thank you to ALL the teams, drivers, fans, employees and
sponsors supporting Evergreen Speedway. Congrats to all the Champions, and a special thank you to Danni and Denny Johnson for their hard work and diligence under extremely tough times.

As with all companies, the most important resource within the Speedway is the people. We would like to state our viewpoint. When it seemed sometimes a race or season would or could be lost, dozens of you rallied to action and made it happen, and the show went on! We live in a world of instant gratification, fast foods, quick fixes, short tempers, little respect, and the perception that no one cares or listens. Yet, hundreds of racers and fans did not give up or give in. Our sport is built on passion and a spirit to excel, compete and win. With all the "things" that are wrong and need attention, there are just as many "things" that are right and need to be recognized. We have the ability as a racing community to take all the good that is Evergreen Speedway and rebuild it into the premiere facility it once was. It will not happen overnight, or even in the first year. But, we guarantee one thing for sure. When the 2011 season kicks off, every driver, fan and sponsor will see and feel the difference.

This will be a time when teams, drivers and promoters have the opportunity to create a program together that is a win win for all parties, including the fans. Racing is an expensive hobby as everyone knows, but through working as a team, we can and will create economy, consistency and fun for every class. Rebuilding anything can be simple, but it is not easy. We ask that we ALL be proactive, not reactive. We are all capable of making something not work. The BIGGEST challenge is to open our minds and be receptive to new ideas, and see what is the best fit for the majority. Having thick rule books, expensive parts, low car counts, disgruntled fans or an US vs THEM attitude does not work. Positive Actions equal Positive Results.

Looking back on this season, we would like everyone to remember the first time you went to a race, got an autograph, met your favorite driver, took your son or daughter to the track, or
strapped your helmet on for the first time. Remember the feeling? That's what it's all about!

NASCAR RETURNS!

We are very proud to announce a NEW working agreement with NASCAR and the
WHELEN ALL-AMERICAN SERIES. This will continue Evergreen Speedway's long standing partnership with NASCAR. New emphasis will be placed on enhanced membership fees, competitor information, sanctioning fees and a business model developed for drivers, fans and the track. This move will allow us to highlight our teams, drivers and classes not only regionally, but nationally. Look forward to a marketing plan that will bring media exposure through radio, TV, print and social media to Evergreen Speedway all season long, with news following soon about Major Featured events for the 2011 season.

We are as equally proud to announce that FOSTER PRESS will return as the class sponsor for the NASCAR MINI STOCKS! A special thank you to Vern and the Foster team for their dedication and commitment to racing at Evergreen.

Championship Awards Banquet this year?

Hi everyone,

We have been getting many, many inquiries about the 2010 Awards Banquet.
At this time we cannot answer these questions. Should we become involved in
the near future, we will post information accordingly. If this becomes a
High Road Promotions event, we will ask for your help through communicating your
ideas and suggestions.

There are a few questions for you and the teams. I know there have been banquets
at different locations over the years. What type of banquet would you
and your teams suggest? Black Tie vs Suit or Sport Coat vs Business Casual?
What is the maximum cost per person or couple? Do you like the past format
or would entertainment be better? Any comments?

Questions * Employees * Rules * Fall Racing *

As the current race season is winding down, and champions are being crowned, there are lots of questions and concerns moving forward. The great news is that all of you really care about the sport and are excited to be involved with the future. In this report I would like to address a few items and ASK YOU to respond to a couple of questions!

1. We would like to have a meeting with all of the Evergreen Staff shortly after the last race.
Please plan on something near October 5th, 6th or 7th. I will try to get a date that fits
your current work schedules.

2. We have been talking with several other tracks, and gathering information from you, the
drivers and teams, to make rule packages that are consistent, economical and competitive.

3. If there is enough interest, we would like to schedule the "October-Fast 200" on the 23rd.
Have Enduro races from Hornets, Stingers and Mini-Stock classes? This would give us
experience with the staff, and a working relationship with the teams as we transition to the
2011 season. This "special" race would have great purses in all classes!
Please let us know what your thoughts are about this race!

Thanks again,

Doug and Steve

County and Speedway updates!

Hi Everyone!

We apologize for the gap between our last posting.  It has been extremely busy, but productive, with all the meetings and negotiations behind the scenes.  From the county, to tire manufactures, vendors, NASCAR, ASA, to sponsors and civic groups, we are covering lots of topics in preparations for our 2011 Racing Season.  We could not be more pleased on how much progress has been made in a relatively short time. As we transition into our new role we want to continue to thank the fans, the drivers and the community for your interest, insight, and passion to make Evergreen Speedway the best it can be. It seems almost on a hourly basis that our team or the racing community comes up with great ideas for the near future!  We know the end results will be great for all.  The emphasis in the beginning is to bring in some new equipment, much needed painting and remodeling of many of the Grandstand and office facilities. Our new contract provides our team with a 25 year agreement with the county. Given the length of the contract, we are excited to commit our resources and experience to restore the heritage of Evergreen Speedway.  Everything will not be done within a 1 or 2 year window. ( unless we hit Mega Millions.. lol )...Barriers, PA, Lights, Suites, track resurfacing, score boards to name a few are on our short list. These are over and above a groomed infield, painted walls, grandstands and restrooms brought up to new standards.  Much progress has been made with the food vendor, Premiere.
Our goal is to create a great working relationship between the teams and drivers, the county, the track and the food provider.  Communication and Cooperation will be key components to everything High Road Promotions does with all of our business partners. Together, we will make Evergreen Speedway the premiere venue for racing, and year round entertainment events.

Without addressing each and everyone individually, it is nearly impossible to stress the importance of the relationships we need to develop, to be completely successful.  By successful, I mean a facility to be proud of, a track that any driver would love to compete on, a community that understands the passion of our sport, and the ability for all our teams to compete at an economical level.

thank you,

Doug, Steve and Traci

Fall Racing Events

As the regular season of racing is nearing an end, we would like to explore several ideas for some fun and entertaining events for the remainder of the year. One might be a Hornet and Stinger Enduro race with a sizable purse for each class. Maybe highlight some of the best NW Drifting drivers, with promotions and advertising to create a better awareness of the sport.  Year-end derbies and special feature races with mega payouts?

Please give us your thoughts about attending or participating in late season racing.  Our goal is analyze logistic, manpower and equipment needs as we move toward the 2011 season opener.

Steve, Traci and I very much appreciate the dozens of drivers, teams and fans who have emailed us with ideas and suggestions for facility, fan, driver, class and rule enhancements. There are NO bad ideas in brainstorming!
We will never be able to utilize every idea, but he assured, we will read and listen to any suggestions to create the best Speedway in the West.  This facility belongs to each and every one of us.
