Happy New Year!

We want to wish each and everyone a very Happy New Year. The promise of a brighter tomorrow, all those hard to keep resolutions ( the intent in always there! ), the chance to do over, the next big step in our lives, the opportunities are endless......The awesome thing is, we all are free to, as Southwest says " to move about the Country". All of us possess the will to create great things, make a difference in someones life, give back to those less fortunate, and simply, lend a helping hand. As we approach Opening Night 2011, we are very humbled to have the opportunities to work with many of you in the racing, business, and civic communities, as well as charity organizations and military installations. Looking forward to the future, I am reminded of a famous quote.

The first step in the acquisition of wisdom is silence, the second listening, the third memory, the fourth practice, the fifth teaching others

We hope everyone has a safe, fun and exciting time tonight!

From High Road Promotions a very HAPPY NEW YEAR!

2011 Rules and Updates / Confusion / Clarification

As everyone knows, Five months ago, High Road Promotions was awarded the operating agreement from Snohomish County to operate Evergreen Speedway year round for the next 25 years. The contract also includes a major role in year round entertainment and marketing assistance for the County.

This process along with many other delays has put us at least 90 days behind where we anticipated being with the July announcement. Our move-in to the County should occur around January 15th.

Our commitment to the racing community has been to restore and rebuild Evergreen Speedway.
That will never change. We are trying to do everything possible in relationship to communication  and  transformation into a new era of racing. In this process, we may have stated some changes that created more confusion. Please accept our apologies if this is the case. Our goal from the beginning has been to create fair, consistent, economical rules.  Rules that overlap local and regional tracks to attract the best drivers and teams for first class racing. The overall fan experience, as well as the racers satisfaction are the key objectives.

High Road Promotions has worked many hours trying to simplify the rules that are used for the different classes at Evergreen Speedway. Despite the efforts it has become obviously clear that there is much confusion and some misdirection of what our sincere intent is meant to be. Because of the confusion we are going back to work to clarify the rules and changes that will be implemented in 2011. We apologize for the confusion and we will have a more detailed set of rules within the next 7-10 days. Thank you for your understanding and patience.

Late Models

It has come to my attention there maybe a mistake in the Late Model Updates for tread width. I will get back on this issue when I return home!  Sorry if it has caused concern or problems.  No excuses, simply sorry if an error on input occured.

Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays!

On this night before Christmas I think it's important to be thankful for so much in our lives. We all get caught in the moment and sometimes become more reactive than proactive. Down economies bounce back, hard work is what we are used to, being good neighbors and charitable to everyone is the thread that binds our nation. Even when times are not what we are accustomed to, we still live in the greatest country on earth.  For this reason alone, we always have hope for a brighter tomorrow. Compared with most of the world, we take simple utilities, food, water, transportation, and education for granted. Many families will be celebrating Christmas alone while moms, dads, sons and daughters, friends and co-workers serve our great nation in the armed forces. The gift of freedom is one we receive each and every day.

As for High Road Promotions, our present came in a long term agreement to operate Evergreen Speedway. We are extremely thankful for all the opportunities we have in the operation of  the track, additional entertainment at the Fairgrounds, and to be able to give back to the communities we live in.  2011 will be a rebound year for so many things. Part of any turnaround, is to overcome any and all obstacles. Adversity is just another Opportunity.

We hope your holiday season is filled with family, friends, laughter and a sense of optimism.

On the lighter side of life, we hope Santa brings us rules packages that every driver loves!
A Merry Christmas to all, and to all a good night!

Hall of Fame Update

When we asked for Nominations to the 2010 Evergreen Speedway / Hall of Fame it is simply a nomination.

This is not meant to be a popularity contest or vote.  Many fan clubs are viewing this as such.
It is great to see the interest and passion for your favorite driver, but please keep in mind the intent of the program.  Many great names have been cast, and like all nominees, many or all are deserving of the award.

thank you!

I think the Most Popular Driver Award could be on the program in the future!

Email Feedback

Thank you for more than 40 emails with suggestions and ideas for the Late Model concerns.

The absolute positive responses with potential solutions are very much appreciated.  Drivers, Crew Chiefs, Car Owners, a couple of Fans, and Tech Officials spent considerable time in addressing every hot issue.
There is no magic answer or overnight fix, but there are passionate racers that want to help find the answers.
Just the fact that within hours of posting and soliciting your input, you answered with thought and foresight.
We know budgets are tight, and many teams can only run a few races. Those trying for a NASCAR ring might like this option.

Street Stock Rules Revision UPDATE

Rule 11.2.5: Clutch assembly. All clutch assemblies in the Street Stock Class must weigh a minimum 32 lbs. No matter what engine is used.
Upon further review of Rule 11.2.5. it appears the 604 GM Spec was allowed the two disc clutch.  This has proved to be effective and long lasting.  Many cars are currently running this same setup.  Effective today, all vehicles will be allowed to use these lighter weight clutches, eliminating the  32# minimum weight for the package.

Spec 604 SLM Class / Open Motors SLM Class

The Great Debate about the Crate.  Sounds like a Dr. Suess book.  When we started the process of rebuilding Evergreen Speedway, the topic of Late Models always continue to resurface. Low car counts, high operations cost, low payouts , tire and shock prices too high, and then everyones favorite subject...Crate vs the Open Motor. This is one of the most hotly debated subjects at any conference, forum or local watering hole.  The original idea of taking a 5K motor that could last 20-30 races with reliability and no refreshes makes complete sense. Spend a thousand more in extras, bolt it in and go racing....Cheap.  No brainer. Stop. Are you going to run apples to apples?  The dilemma starts there.  The answer is no. Unless it is an exclusive Spec 604 class. The state of where we are today.  Blending the Motors it appears, will satisfy no one. No matter if we use restrictor plates or weight, the question remains, will the car count increase?

IF we ran a 3/8's Spec 604 class for 14 races then open up  4 - 5/8's races to invite open motors would that work? 100 lap features with good pay outs.  We Need 18 races for NASCAR.  Need to decide on featured division.

I am asking for your input.  Besides fixing the economy, letting you run for free, and paying $10K to win, what would make you WANT to run at Evergreen Speedway?

We have tryed to combine, blend, and be as liberal as possible on rules to increase car counts without costing a bunch of extra money for the Late Models.  It is a work in progress.

If you would, please send me an email.   What is your best solution to fix the Late Model Car Counts?        doug@highroadgroup.com

A couple of areas we are doing for 2011.  Lowering the front gate ticket prices, eliminating the back gate weekly car fee, lowering the pit age to 14, giving teams sponsor tickets, increased marketing and advertising, comp pit passes for team sponsors, purses that pay out all the way or pay to start, starting our complete upgrade of the track and facilities to name a few. Rather odd, that we would ask for your opinions or ideas?
How will racing be better served then to explore every side of an issue? The only way to build a better team is to communicate with the players and coaches.  ( drivers and crew chiefs )

In all seriousness, please respond if you have something that will help.

Mini Stock / Street Stock / F8 / Hornets / Stingers

Attention Teams!  The Hoosier Tires are the Official Tire of the Late Model Division. Other Classes are under review. WE do listen! The Street Stocks Division may well remain on the current tires.

Attention Touring Groups!

Please send an email to doug@highroadgroup.com with any open dates you may have for the upcoming season!

Looking forward to booking more exciting shows for 2011!

DEMO DERBY and ROLL OVER

No changes to the DEMO DERBY or ROLL OVER Cars  from the 2010 Evergreen Speedway rules package.

2011 STREET STOCK Rule Changes

Once we gain control of the evergreenspeedway web site all of these changes will be incorporated into the new rules package.

STREET STOCKS

Rule11.1.4: Locked rear ends not permitted. Please note these rear-ends must turn freely by hand without the aid of tools or levers to be considered legal.

Rule 11.2.5: Clutch assembly. All clutch assemblies in the Street Stock Class must weigh a minimum 32 lbs. No matter what engine is used.

2011 LATE MODEL Rule Changes

We would like to announce our first set of rule changes for the 2011 racing season.  The complete rules packages will be posted once we secure the evergreenspeedway web site.  For now, please follow the 2010 rules, with the exceptions of these changes.  As we stated from the beginning, we are trying to keep the cost of racing in check, create more car counts, and streamline rules to overlap area tracks whenever possible.

The changes to the rules should allow more teams to compete at Evergreen Speedway without investing in new motors, shocks or expensive parts.

Big Announcements Coming Next Week!

Christmas is just a few days away, and in the spirit of the season, we have great news to share!

Rules and Schedules

Hello Everyone!

There have been many calls and emails over this past week about Evergreens rules and schedules. It is our intent to finish and post the rules in the coming week.  Many of our meetings at WARPA, the RPM Conference in Reno, and this past week in Charlotte have one universal theme in mind.  Try to get it right the first time! As everyone knows in today's world, travel is no longer fun. Working with local and regional tracks on scheduling and rules has been our mission from the start. We are close on all classes, with NO major changes for the coming year. As we have stated from our first meetings, let's get the 2011 season rolling without increasing expenses with rules and parts that exist now, and to overlap and honor area track rules if possible. The goal over the next one to three years is to work closer and communicate with neighboring tracks that benefit everyone.  Everyone is the teams, the fans, the sponsors and the tracks. Lowering costs and raising car counts is the ultimate goal.  It is in the best interest of our sport, if the quality of racing is good at every track.

There are plenty of reasons that teams are not running. The economy and the cost to run on a regular basis have to be the most obvious. We believe some of the areas concerning cost controls, front and back gate, purses, and car sponsor incentives will be addressed when we announce our new policies. Being driver friendly is as important as being fan friendly.  Actually, more so. We have not finalized the tire or fuel vendors. Every sponsor will be charged with giving back to the drivers and teams. Whether it is point funds, weekly contests, or simply rewarding consistent attendance at the track, Evergreen and its sponsor partners will make it fun to run!

Montana 200 in July

In a prior post I gave some preliminary scheduling for our K& N Pro Series West Weekend.  With the Montana 200 running  the next weekend, we made a commitment to other tracks to not schedule against their big events. We had listed a Late Model race on Sunday as a preliminary to the 200.  This race was scheduled to not conflict with the Big 5 in Wenatchee the previous night. Our plan is to run only "Spec 604's" not planning to compete in Montana . Many of our local drivers compete and win, at the popular Montana 200!  In recent meetings with owners and promoters we agreed to cooperate for the sake of the drivers, fans and the tracks. We certainly want to be respectful of all area tracks in the best interest of our sport.

Daytona is only 70 days away!

Pictures from Charlotte, NC

We have met track operators from all over the country, both asphalt and dirt.  Great people dedicated to racing, who are willing to share awesome ideas.  Here are some pictures from our trip.

NASCAR Whelen All American Series / K&N West Touring Series

Tonight was the NASCAR Whelen All America Series Awards Banquet, held in Charlotte, at the NASCAR Hall of Fame. Our Track and State Champion Lane Sundholm, along with State Rookie of the Year, Joe Kneeland, gave Evergreen Speedway great representation. This event is ever as impressive as the Sprint Cup Awards Banquet.  All of the same attention to detail, along with entertainment, stories about Short Track Racers, all of the top NASCAR brass, plus a huge commitment to drivers and teams that run for the Track, State and National Championships. While the Cup gets the majority of the national attention, there is
no mistaking the level of importance Home Tracks play in the minds of NASCAR.  It is good to see them honoring and recognizing the roots of NASCAR.  The rebuilding process to regain tracks will not be an easy road, but rarely does anything of quality and value come without hard work and dedicated efforts. Hats off to the over 2500 drivers and teams nationwide who participated in the series.

Evergreen Speedway is proud to announce the return of  the NASCAR K&N Pro Series West. The West Series has been absent for several years.  The event dates are July 9th and July 10th.  On Friday July 8th, Evergreen Speedway will host a "Block Party / Fan Fest Event".  Car shows, driver meet and greets, bands, and welcome back NASCAR West!  Saturday's racing program will feature Tour Time Trials, with Street Stocks and maybe Mini Stock Mania? on the 5/8's!  Late models will open up the Sunday event followed by the "soon to be released" title sponsor's 200 lap K&N feature event. Look for some exciting announcements to be coming your way very soon about this 3 day fun filled weekend. Who will be returning to the NW?  Mark your calendars, you will want to run this race. Purses... Big Purses!  Be our guests!

Rules / Schedules / Live from Charlotte!

Hello Drivers, Teams and Fans!

As this year is winding down and time is drawing nearer for the new racing season, we wanted to give you some very important updates.

Our eyes and ears have been wide open this past few months gathering information from your teams, scouring information from area and regional tracks, researching tech and cost analysis on parts, and having several discussions with promoters about common rules and packages. We are finalizing our rule packages based on current platforms with changes coming that should streamline, simplify and reduce operating costs. Everything we are doing is based upon hundreds of hours of research, input from the teams and first hand experience.  We appreciate everyones input, ideas and suggestions for making racing more fun and affordable. The successes we share will benefit the teams, the fans and the tracks.  Our goals are threefold. To create the best fan experience possible, to support, promote and rebuild each and every class of racing for our teams, and to deliver a great return on investment to all of our sponsors. The NEW Rules will not be revolutionary. Slowing taking what is in place today with an eye on the future of our sport will be the path we have chosen.  Given the state of the economy, the lower car counts and the costs involved to run a weekly race team, everything we attempt to do, will be with the driver in mind. Now that all of the area tracks have posted their rules, we are trying to find common ground in as many areas as possible. We know it is impossible to match up everything this year, but our goal is to accomplish as many crossover rules as possible for the future.

In the next few days we shall have our rules and schedules ready!  2011 is going to be a very exciting time at Evergreen Speedway.
